In scary news on Wednesday, Kansas City Royals’ star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. let the game against the Seattle Mariners. Witt exited in the top of the fifth inning after taking a 95 mph fastball to the forearm from Mariners reliever Andres Muñoz. Witt exited the game and was replaced by Tyler Tolbert on first base.

Although the game wasn’t televised, some encouraging reports from Arizona indicate that Witt walked to the clubhouse with a trainer but carried his equipment and otherwise looked okay. Witt will undergo further testing, and we will update as more information becomes available.
